The Case of Disappearing Housewives

In a quiet and a serene city of Baloda Bazar, something very unpleasant is happening. A peculiar shop here always has a certain sale or free offers that are unbelievable. Unbelievable so much so that when women go to this shop to buy something or the other, they do not know what is really 'in store' for them! Because as strange as it may sound, they go missing!

Watch out for this space, as we try to unravel the case of disappearing housewives!

Till then
Sleep Safe!

Face in the Window - II

2am
Ticktock, ticktock, ticktock... I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned, I tried covering up myself with a blanket but beads of sweat started trickling down. I threw the blanket on the floor, took a deep breath. I sat up wanting to pee, but didn't have the guts to go to the washroom. But I had to so I made a quick dash, on my way back I stumbled upon something and came crashing down on my elbow. "Aaaaahhhh..." , I yelled. Someone took hold of my hand so tightly that I yelled out another 'aaaaahhhh', which led to a tight slap on my face that made me see stars, moon and all the so called planets of the outer space.

Till suddenly a masked face became clear in front of my face, I lost my voice and will to struggle. "So we finally meet", sneered the masked character. "So young lady, tell me which part of your body draws out enough blood for my next masterpiece?" Masterpiece??? Blood??? What was he even bloody thinking? How can I die? I had just written a fictional book, that was just an imagination, how could that even come true? "Hmmm...I guess you are not going to cooperate with me, lets see, how about your face," I gasped! As I tried to free from his grip, he tightened it even more, I knew I didn't want to make this whole nightmare come true. I started kicking him, which provoked him to attack me again but I bent down to avoid - I knew I was no karate champ, but I had to free myself.

As I freed myself from his clutches, I saw him flash out something silver! It shone under the moonlight so much so that it dimly lit up the pitch dark room. "Let's play hide and seek babe, if that's what you are interested in!" There was a roar of thunder outside and then a flash of lightening. I knew that even if I screamed out loud, my neighbours wouldn't be able to hear me. Another roar, lightening and then it started to rain. I suddenly reached for the door - jumped couple of stairs and headed out the building. I started running as if a bull had just been left behind me... I had no sense of direction, nothing, I was numb. I could just feel the heavy rain washing down all over me.

Suddenly I trip over a branch and fall flat on my face. Till that time my intruder gets an advantage over me and he comes near me..."O..no," I scream, he sneers at me ready to butcher me like he did others and there will be no witness, he points out the knife at my throat and hisses, "Be prepared to join others..."

I scream and wake up trembling, with sweat trickling down my face. My mother is by my side, with a look of concern in her eyes. There is a doctor standing by her side - "Mrs. Sen please these things take time, your daughter is hallucinating - in this case patients always make up things that are not there. This usually causes lot of trouble. I would rather that you keep her under our observation," the doctor says. But it seems my mum isn't listening. She walks out of the room with a look of defeat on her face.

                                         Face in the Window

Someone is after me, dressed in black, it was raining very heavily that night, all I remember is that I was running in dense woods, there was no place to hide.  I trip over a branch and fall flat on my face.  Till that time my intruder gets an advantage over me and he comes near me with something silver shining in his hand, “O…no,” I scream, he sneers at me ready to butcher me like  he did to others, and then there will be no witnesses, he points out the knife at my throat and hisses, “Be prepared to join others...!”  All I remember is that I screamed...

I wake up, trembling and sweating, one of the nurse is already by my side, the doctor gives her orders to strap me tight to the bed. I have been given a dose of injection and as they prepare to make me unconscious..I drift back to my past.

My name is Kashish Sen. I am an author by profession. I write books based on fiction, fiction and more fictionEvery book of mine has been a bestseller. One of the bestseller, which sold more than million copies, was the “Face in the Window."

This book is based on a serial killer who brutally kills his victim and after each and every murder he draws a face in the window with the victims blood indicating who will be his next target

“Try and stop me,” he writes after his work, and thus he always been successful in his work, no matter how much the police try to find and warn the person by that time this killer has already finished his work and he is on the move.

The conclusion is that there is handicapped female who kills him in the end.

Meanwhile, I clearly remember, it was a month ago that this incident had occurred which has brought me to this place…. I was sitting all alone watching 8’o clock news when there was a knock at the door - must be my pesky neighbor I thought, when I opened the door, to my surprise there was no one, so I stepped out to see if there might be some naughty kids playing pranks with me…. as I stepped out I tripped over the object,  I look down and GASP! To my horror there was a rag doll with its neck twisted to one side, there was a note.  “The game has begun, even you will die,” it said, “Try and stop me.”

“And the main crime stories today are…the city is shocked at brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl Devika Dsouza at 7.30 p.m. this evening at Nallasopara.  She was butchered mercilessly.  The police found no evidence but are trying, they say that only thing the murderer has left behind is a sketch in the window with the victims blood.

“O.No…” I scream that means the threat that I got was for real.  I call up the cops, they come after an hour to have a look at the rag doll sent to me.  “Someone must be playing pranks with you Miss Sen, I don’t see any harm here,” says Mr Koparkhairne, the senior officer.  “Goodnight Miss Sen and don’t worry about such things...”.

As days passed by, there were similar stories about the 'murderous artist' and his bloody sketches... . I got a call from the police few days later when they were on their way to investigating a third murder case in the same area. "Miss Sen I think you should come and see this."

When I got to the murder site,  Mr Koparkhairne led me to the window facing the kitchen... I started feeling woozy, I wanted to scream but I couldn't it looked as if the serial killer had suddenly appeared from nowhere and is now trying to wring my neck...

In his signature style he had already left a bloody sketch on the window along with a note 'try and stop me' - his next target who was none other than me!

Will Kashish be able to stop the serial killer before he gets to her? Will the cops get him? Keep thinking while we return back to you tomorrow FANTASTICALLY!!!
